Lily Kip is a figurative oil painter who uses photographic visuals to examine human relationships. The split-second interactions depicted in her work provoke confusion and provide little clarity, asking the viewer to draw their own conclusions. Just as interpersonal relationships occur in the context of multiple perspectives, each piece generates multiple, individual interpretations.

Kip was raised primarily in Massachusetts and has been a painter since age three. Currently she is completing a six month painting project under the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, teaching as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Montana, and occasionally figure modeling. In the intervening years, Kip has worked as a brewhouse tour guide, arts camp teacher, personal nanny, pub waitress, and pet portraitist. She received her Bachelor's of Arts from Bates College and a Master's of Fine Arts at the University of Montana.
